Central Virginia PDC outlines regional projects, highlights $400,000 invested in Campbell County

Justin Bremner, representing the Central Virginia Planning District Commission, briefed the board on the PDC’s work across Campbell County and surrounding localities, noting the commission’s role in regional planning and grant administration.
"The district ... includes Campbell County, Appomattox County, Amherst County, Bedford County, and the city of Lynchburg," Bremner said, describing the PDC as a political subdivision created to coordinate transportation, economic development and consolidated services.
Bremner highlighted several local impacts: Campbell County has received roughly $200,000–$203,000 of the CBPDC’s brownfields grant money for five sites, and the PDC helped secure nearly $900,000 in grant funding for welding equipment at Central Virginia Community College. He said the PDC’s total operational budget is approximately $2 million, and that Campbell County’s contribution of about $37,000 leverages substantially more in planning and grant capacity.
Supervisors asked for more locality‑level service metrics and for slide materials to be made available; Bremner agreed to provide follow‑up numbers on how many Campbell residents are reached by individual programs.
Next steps: staff will follow up with the PDC for more granular locality metrics and circulate presentation materials to the board.
