Whitley County approves jail equipment maintenance, Stryker service contract and jail kitchen AC replacement

Judge Executive presented a Stryker service contract to maintain life packs, stretchers and related EMS equipment; the county noted the devices can cost about $100,000 each and that quarterly maintenance is required. A motion to approve the Stryker service contract was moved and seconded; the court approved it by roll call.
The court also passed Resolution 2023-12, an add-on item authorizing purchase and installation of a replacement air-conditioning unit for the jail kitchen. Judge Executive said many HVAC units in county facilities are roughly 20 years old and the jail kitchen unit was prioritized for replacement. The resolution was adopted by roll-call vote.
Jailer Jaylen Wilson delivered the jail’s monthly report, listing inmate work assignments such as weed-eating, pressure washing, painting and trimming at county facilities and schools. "I know they worked at main campus at Whitley County. I locked down their weed eating, pressure washing, painting," Wilson said, summarizing regular maintenance work performed by inmates. Members thanked Wilson for the work and coordination with local schools.
