Ambulance authority reports surge in calls and readies two new ambulances for service

Kevin Callahan, Ambulance Director, told the fiscal court that the Ambulance Authority handled 643 calls in September and has exceeded 6,000 calls year-to-date, on pace for approximately 8,000 by year-end. He reported the authority drove 15,025 miles in September and described community engagement at Old Fashioned Days.
Callahan said two remaining ordered ambulances have arrived, are wrapped and are having radios installed; he aimed for inspection by Friday and placing them into service as soon as possible. "My goal was for those to be inspected by this Friday and have those placed in service as soon as possible," he said.
Court members commended the service's community outreach. No specific funding action for the ambulances was recorded in the transcript; procurement appeared completed and installation/inspection is in progress.
