Shalane, Northrop Community Nonresidential Service Manager for the ION Center (formerly the Women’s Crisis Center), told the court the center provides free, confidential services across 13 counties in northern Kentucky and the Maysville area, including a 24‑hour hotline, two emergency shelters, a pet‑protection program and counseling. She emphasized both intervention and prevention work and described the center’s Green Dot bystander violence‑prevention program.
The court read a proclamation that cited statewide statistics and noted the intersectional impacts of gender‑based violence. Officials said the proclamation would be signed on 10/15/2024 and planned a photo to accompany recognition and awareness efforts.
The county asked ION Center representatives to pose for a photo and said informational materials would be available at the courthouse for residents who need help.
