Gallatin County signs on to new Kentucky Ohio River regional recreation authority (CORA) resolution

At its Aug. 8 meeting the Gallatin County Fiscal Court voted to adopt a resolution supporting the Kentucky Ohio River Regional Recreation Authority (CORA), a municipal corporation created by the 2024 Kentucky General Assembly (House Bill 712 amending KRS chapter 148).
Manager Moore explained CORA’s purpose is to coordinate riverfront recreation and tourism among participating counties and to expand access to related grant opportunities. The court received a recommendation from local tourism staff and the tourism board had previously voted to recommend the fiscal court adopt the resolution.
Moore emphasized the resolution does not obligate county funds at this stage and that it is intended to position Gallatin County to apply for riverfront and recreation grants. The court recorded a motion and second to accept the resolution; voice approval was recorded.
County staff will provide resolution documents and follow up with tourism and regional partners as projects and grants develop.
