Gallatin County sets public auction for Glencoe Bank building on Sept. 28

The Gallatin County Fiscal Court voted Aug. 8 to set a public auction for the surplus Glencoe Bank building on Sept. 28 at 10 a.m., instructing staff to advertise the sale and use an on-site auctioneer.
County officials said recent plat review shows the property includes additional land and parking for 15–20 vehicles. Attorney guidance and Kentucky Revised Statutes require a public disposition process — sealed-bid, public auction or electronic bidding — and the court chose an on-site public auction.
Court members discussed prior efforts to repurpose the building as a library or community resource center; those volunteer efforts did not result in a long-term plan. The court said it is open to reviewing any city interest but moved to set the auction date to advance the surplus process.
The motion to set the auction passed by voice vote; the court directed staff to post notices and coordinate auction logistics.
