Franklin County road department updates, garage project purchases and mechanic hire approved

Committee members reviewed a list of equipment and shop items: generator sized for critical facility loads, commercial shelving, concrete separator bins, a used forklift, windows and other shop tools. Several items will require formal bids; Duke said he has some vendor estimates on file. One committee member cautioned that a generator supports critical systems (including local internet infrastructure and jail backup power) and emphasized appropriate specifications.
The fiscal court authorized advertising sealed bids to outfit two new Ford chassis with dump beds, snow plows, tailgate spreaders and lighting and approved purchases of equipment and tools for the new road garage up to $225,000 (funding shown to be encumbered in Fund 97). The court also amended the agenda and approved hiring Matthew Pridmore as a mechanic for the road department.
Magistrates asked that procurement specifications be clear (generator capacity, forklift condition and bids for appliances) and requested staff provide bid specs and comparative pricing before award so the court can confirm value, competitive process and compliance with purchasing rules.
