Tammy (clerk) presented three grant requests for fire operations: (1) a Leary Firefighters Foundation grant ($23,480) for a turnout-gear extractor and dryer to remove toxins and carcinogens from PPE, (2) a Firehouse Subs Foundation grant to fund an estimated $18,000 crew-capable UTV to replace aging gators at Station 10, and (3) other department equipment grants. Chief Brewer explained the extractor would be sited at an existing station with minimal plumbing/electrical cost if awarded; the UTV would replace a roughly 20-year-old gator and carry more personnel and equipment.
Court members approved the grant authorizations and the vehicle purchases by voice vote in the voting session (approval entries SEG 3692'SEG 3696, SEG 3744'SEG 3762). The court also authorized the purchase of one ton-and one half-ton trucks at Bachman Chevrolet under the state master agreement (SEG 3688'SEG 3696).
