Tammy, who presented the proposal, said the project is listed as a high priority in the city and county pedestrian and bicycle plan and that the corridor’s pedestrian and bicycle comfort indexes are rated at a low level of service, indicating safety issues. She outlined a grant request of $354,750 and noted the local match requirement: “The match for this grant is 20%, which is $70,950,” she said.
Magistrates asked whether the city would participate and whether the local match could be paid from general fund or in‑kind contributions. Tammy said the city is supportive, and magistrates requested a formal letter of support to strengthen the application. The court approved a resolution authorizing the grant application with the caveat that the city provide a letter of support.
If awarded, the grant would fund a corridor study to determine the safest crossing points on US‑460 and design the shared path. County staff said some portions may not achieve a full 10‑foot width because of right‑of‑way constraints and that signage and path markings would be included in the project scope.
