McPherson County commissioners on Nov. 12 approved a series of routine administrative actions, including personnel changes, a small equipment purchase to maintain operations at the county asphalt plant, and routine accounts payable.
Personnel: The board approved personnel change notices for Lisa Kane and Krista Allison, each effective Nov. 10. A commissioner moved to approve the PCN for Lisa Kane and the motion carried by voice vote. The board then approved the PCN for Krista Allison after a motion, a second and a voice vote.
Asphalt‑plant repairs: Public Works staff said valves ordered from ADM were backordered and that the vendor could not guarantee price or delivery. Staff recommended procuring two 3‑inch gas valves from Hot Mix Parts & Services, which had two valves in stock at $3,855.50 each for a total of about $7,711 plus shipping. An unidentified commissioner moved to approve purchasing the two valves through Hot Mix Parts & Services not to exceed $7,711 plus shipping; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Staff said failure to obtain valves promptly risked shutting down the asphalt plant.
Finance: Commissioners reviewed accounts payable, questioned an ADM asphalt drum mixer line on the payable list, and then approved accounts payable, payroll and juror checks after a second and voice vote.
Administrative housekeeping and recess: Commissioners signed documents on the agenda, discussed upcoming LEPC and strategic planning meetings at the Community Building and at the Galva Fire Station, and agreed to recess the meeting for a walking tour of the building; the motion to recess carried by voice vote.
No ordinances, resolutions or contracts requiring additional public hearings were adopted during the session. The board moved to proceed with the walking tour and temporarily recessed the regular meeting.
