Jeff Butler, McPherson County IT coordinator, asked the board Nov. 4 to preapprove quotes for network and infrastructure work tied to a county building project. He said vendor availability looked acceptable (roughly four to six weeks for equipment) and described differences between bids, including lifetime warranty coverage for higher-priced equipment and five-year maintenance for both options.
Butler recommended proceeding with the low bid based on price, inventory availability and his assessment of vendor performance. He estimated total equipment and services at $231,173.92 and said cabling and some labor would be included in Fuqua’s quote; configuration and training for county staff were also part of the proposal.
A motion to approve the recommended quote (quote 1) not to exceed $231,173.92 was moved, seconded and carried.
Next steps: IT staff will place orders per board approval, coordinate with facilities staff about staging and the temporary livestream equipment move, and schedule vendor configuration and staff training.
