County accepts completed Canton communications site; three-year warranty begins after signature

Julie McClure, director of emergency management communications, told the board that Harris has completed the Canton communications site and that testing "all came back really good," with the exception of a roughly one-mile area near Rainbow Road that remains without coverage.
McClure said the contract provided no absolute coverage guarantees but that the site otherwise enhances the existing system. She said the board's acceptance and the chairman's signature will trigger the site's three-year warranty with the vendor.
A commissioner moved that the chairman sign the acceptance form; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. County staff will sign and submit the acceptance so the vendor warranty period can begin.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the limited no-coverage area and how it relates to the broader system; McClure said the site provides portable and mobile coverage everywhere except that low-lying, roughly one-mile spot.
