McPherson County approves Kirk & Michael to design Arapahoe Road bridge under grant timeline

He noted officials at a North Central Kansas County Highway meeting and KDOT emphasized that projects funded by these grants must be under contract for construction within 24 months, and that early contracting often consumes the initial time if delayed.
Kramer said he had contacted three consultants and received one timely response; commissioners expressed concern about timeliness and moving the project forward. A commissioner moved to approve the contract with Kirk and Michael and the motion carried unanimously.
The approval positions the county to proceed with design work under the grant timeline; staff said they would begin contract negotiations promptly to meet KDOT scheduling requirements.
