County approves $6,730 culvert replacement on Arrowhead Road

The McPherson County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 7 to approve a culvert replacement project on Arrowhead Road, just east of 14th Avenue.
John (county staff) described a metal culvert that is partially collapsing; crews previously overlaid asphalt to cover the sinking area. The plan is to replace the rusted metal pipe with a reinforced concrete pipe and install a concrete slab beneath the pipe to prevent separation over time.
John said county forces will perform the work and presented a vendor quote plus an estimated additional $575 for the slab; the board approved a motion capping county costs at $6,730. The motion passed by voice vote.
The project moves to the county's road crew to schedule and execute, with county staff to report completion and costs back to the board.
