A representative speaking for Veil Robinson Engineering told the court the county's rush off‑road project has been coordinated with the water district, sewer and road departments and is now out for bids, with a bid opening scheduled for Jan. 7.
"Bid date has been set up, and as you can see there, January, January, seventh bid opening," the representative said, describing two contracts: Contract A for a water line, sewer extension and a new pump station at the RV park, and Contract B for widening of Herb Ross/Bridal (as named in the transcript).
The presenter said the estimates align with a $4,000,000 AML grant that the county has and described contingency and design/inspection allowances. "So, yes, those 2 when you add those 2 estimates up, that's the total," the presenter said, referring to budgets tied to the grant.
He noted environmental reviews with AML and other agencies had delayed the schedule earlier in the year but that authority to award had been obtained and that pre-bid and bid‑opening coordination had been scheduled in December and January so the court could review bids at its January meeting.
The presenter invited contractors to attend a pre-bid meeting planned for Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at the County Road Garage and said the project team expects good interest from water, sewer and roadway contractors.
What's next: bids will open Jan. 7, the court will review results at its January meeting, and procurement will proceed per the reported budgets and contingencies.
