Commissioners approve routine contracts, grant application and personnel pay‑scale change

At the Dec. 17 meeting, the Coweta County Board of Commissioners approved multiple routine contracts and administrative items by voice vote.
Staff reported that the Siemens contract for accountability‑courts lab equipment had expired and recommended executing a state‑contract agreement with Thermo Fisher to obtain lower pricing and no minimum‑volume commitments; the board approved that agreement. The board also renewed the county’s agreement with True Natural Gas for a 12‑month period after staff vetted alternatives.
Coweta County Fire Rescue asked the board to approve a one‑year PS Tracks agreement for inventory management at a budgeted cost of $16,300; commissioners approved the contract. Separately, the board authorized a purchase of an Avigilon security software upgrade from the low bidder (Basex6) for $30,137 and approved a corresponding budget amendment because the item was not in the FY‑25 budget.
Todd Hanley presented the Georgia Department of Transportation Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) application for 2025; Coweta County’s LMIG allocation was reported as $1,839,616.07 with a required local match of roughly $551,000. The proposed project list includes approximately 17.2 miles of milling and resurfacing with an estimated cost of about $5.83 million. The board authorized staff to submit the LMIG application.
The board also reapproved the Public Transit Agency Safety Plan (PTASP), updated to reflect the county’s new transit manager, Chad Steele, and consistent with Atlanta Transit Link Authority comments, and approved an amendment to the county pay scale that increases minimum rates in all pay grades by 5% effective Jan. 6, 2025.
Most items passed on unanimous voice votes with no recorded opposition.
