The Mount Pleasant Area School District board met Sept. 4 and approved a slate of routine actions, appointed three student representatives and approved a yearly agreement with the county juvenile probation department.
The board granted professional personnel tenure to Will Myers and accepted the resignation of high school secretary Talia Stoffko, effective Sept. 27, 2024. The board also appointed three mentor teachers — David Green, Jamie Brienne and Cal Cardella — and approved multiple supplemental personnel items, including Nikki Horak as play assistant director.
The board read biographical summaries and then appointed three student representatives: Aiden Gross, Ella Alexon and Kara Hutter. The biographies highlighted academics, extracurricular involvement and postsecondary plans; the board welcomed the students and invited them to participate in future meetings.
On facilities and agreements, the board approved secondary building use requests for Sunday activities and authorized a yearly agreement with the county juvenile probation department described in the agenda. Athletic travel for varsity and junior varsity baseball teams was approved for a spring trip (location likely in Florida; final logistics to be determined), and board members stated the trip has no direct district cost as fundraising will cover expenses.
Staff also described the district’s participation in professional development through an executive functioning cohort supported in part by the Western PA Learning Alliance. Board members asked for follow-up updates when staff return from cohort sessions; the transcript notes an earlier acceptance of approximately $17,000 from the alliance to support related activities.
Votes were taken on each listed agenda item by voice vote; motion makers and seconders were recorded for many items and motions passed by the assembled board. Several members offered brief remarks welcoming students and thanking custodial staff and teachers for a strong start to the 2024–25 school year.
The meeting closed after final routine approvals and a motion to adjourn.
