Harrison County Commission awards demolition bid, certifies election results and makes appointments

The Harrison County Commission on Nov. 20 moved through routine and project items, approving bids, requisitions, certifications and an appointment.
The commission awarded the round 4 DEP demolition contract for 13 structures to Beatty Construction, which submitted the lowest responsible bid at $98,300, according to staff recommendation. Commissioners approved the award by voice vote.
The commission also approved a project fund requisition (item 7a) for $487 related to proceeds of series 2019 bonds for Charles Pointe Economic Opportunity Development District projects (including White Oaks and Northland Bay). Separate routine items approved included payroll change notices (items a–g), requisitions/purchase orders (items a–c), and exonerations; all were approved by voice votes recorded as "aye."
On election business, commissioners voted to certify election results and to affix all three commissioners' signatures to the certification documents.
The commission entered executive session under West Virginia Code §6-9A-4 to discuss property/negotiations related to Goldaizen United International Inc. and returned to open session. Afterward the commission approved a motion to update the appraisal on the property discussed and authorized staff to carry out the appraisal update.
For board appointments, the commission reappointed Richard G. Dale to the Sun Valley Public Service District Board; the motion carried by voice vote.
Administrator's report: Laura reported completion of a punch list and closeout for the parking lot at Washington and Third Street, and said three county-owned parking lots on Washington are being paved this week.
