A county legal advisor and other staff discussed the statutory steps, including giving beneficiaries notice and allowing 30 days for removal of personal effects if an administrator is appointed. After discussion about conflicts of interest and notification, Commissioner Henkel moved to appoint the sheriff as administrator; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The commission directed that beneficiaries be given notice and that standard procedures be followed before property disposition. No specific costs to the county were provided; staff noted the estate contained no other assets to cover expenses, which could mean cleanup costs will be borne by the county if not recovered.
