During discussion a commissioner clarified, 'My understanding is the Game Changers is not actually a state program. It's a nonprofit, and it has its board,' asking that the record not refer to it as a state-administered program. After that clarification, the commission approved the first $30,000 (item 12) by voice vote and later approved the $30,000 Board of Education request (item 13) by voice vote.
Separately, the commission removed an agenda item that would have rescinded Game Changers state-program funding, saying the item should be removed from the agenda.
Next steps: The funds will be disbursed as approved; the commission did not record further conditions or reporting requirements on the record for these grants during the Oct. 9 meeting.
