Conrad, who introduced herself as a foundation (transcript text: 'foundation simulations officer') representative of the Mountaineer Food Bank, said the nonprofit is the largest emergency food provider in West Virginia, serving 48 of the state's 55 counties. She described local programs including mobile pantries, veteran feeding programs at Veterans Park, child- and senior-focused feeding programs and distributed an impact report to commissioners. Conrad cited 2023 figures stating the Mountaineer Food Bank distributed approximately 1,325,612 pounds of food to about 2,775 households in the county through partner pantries, soup kitchens and mobile programs.
The commission read the proclamation language into the record and adopted it; staff said they would ensure the proclamation is signed and distributed.
