Newman Council certifies election results and administers oaths to newly elected officials

City staff reported the Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters completed its canvas and certified the results. The staff presentation said Casey Graham was reelected to a two‑year term as mayor; Giselle Pimentel and Matthew Harden were elected to four‑year council terms; and Mary Moore was reelected treasurer for a four‑year term. "The city has received the statement of results and the certification of said election results," staff said.
A motion to adopt the resolution was moved and seconded and carried on an electronic vote (motion carries 4‑0). Following the vote, the council administered the oath of office to the newly elected and reelected officials.
The council recessed briefly to update its electronic voting system and then returned to regular business. The council did not record further challenges to the certification during the meeting.
Next steps: the resolution formalizes the certification and the city attorney will administer official oaths; no additional action on the election results was scheduled at the meeting.
