The Buena Vista Lagoon Committee voted unanimously to hold quarterly meetings on Thursdays from 9 to 10 a.m., alternating between the cities of Carlsbad and Oceanside, and asked staff to reserve parking spaces for attendees.
Committee members debated frequency, weekday and time before formalizing the schedule. Mayor Blackburn said she preferred morning meetings: “Personally, I like getting meetings done first thing in the morning whenever possible.” Committee member Stimmel added, “Thursdays I’m not teaching, so Thursday mornings are fine.” Members agreed quarterly meetings should be adequate with the option to call special meetings when timely matters arise.
Members also addressed a scheduling conflict with the Oceanside farmers market. Staff and members discussed the practicalities of parking and agreed to reserve spaces on meeting days to reduce access problems raised after a recent NCTD meeting left attendees without parking.
The motion to adopt the Thursday schedule — quarterly at 9 a.m., alternating Carlsbad and Oceanside with reserved parking — was made, seconded and passed unanimously in roll call. Devaney was recorded absent for the meeting.
The committee asked staff to post the final calendar for the coming quarter and to place a proposal to formally dissolve any inactive ad hoc committees on the next agenda.
