The Alamance County Board of Commissioners accepted a statutory $50,000 bond and appointed Ms. Miller as interim tax collector after the prior tax administrator resigned.
County staff explained there are two state offices associated with the tax administrator role (tax collector and tax assessor) and clarified that the board was appointing Ms. Miller only as tax collector so the county could proceed with tax collection beginning Sept. 1. The board accepted Ms. Miller’s bond as required by statute and approved a motion to order collection of 2024–25 taxes beginning Sept. 1. The board also approved the write‑off of certain aged property taxes that would be barred by the 10‑year statute of limitations.
Ms. Miller briefly addressed the board to thank members for the appointment. Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the bond acceptance and the orders by voice vote.
