District to apply for 10 more electric school buses under EPA lottery

At the Dec. 19 meeting, the district briefed the board on its intent to apply for an EPA electric school bus lottery for 10 additional buses. Ms. Slate told trustees the notice to the board was required by Michigan procedure and that the additional buses would be housed at Dean and include charging stations. The district previously received 20 electric buses through Michigan and federal grants and characterized the new application as a fully reimbursable opportunity that advances its green initiatives.
Board members asked that the notice be reflected in the meeting minutes to satisfy state requirements. The briefing was informational and did not require a vote; the board recorded the intent to apply in the minutes.
