Consultants from BWP & Associates presented the community engagement findings the district requested to guide its superintendent search, saying the process produced unusually high participation and a data‑driven leadership profile.
“We had over 400 participants that we have talked to during the process in any of the stakeholder meetings and in the community forums,” a consultant said, summarizing survey and forum results and noting multilingual and student input alongside staff and community voices.
Key themes included strong teacher and staff performance, a desire for a superintendent with classroom and strategic leadership experience, concerns about growth and infrastructure, the need for improved communication, and calls to increase diversity among district staff. The consultants emphasized that appendix A of the report will include verbatim community comments and promised the materials will be public record.
Timeline: the consultants said the candidate pool closes Nov. 10, they expected to screen and interview applicants, and to present 4–6 recommended candidates to the board in late November with public vetting and an anticipated recommendation in mid‑December to January. They advised confidentiality for candidates until finalists are publicly listed under state law.
Why it matters: The engagement findings will shape how the board vets candidates and conduct interviews; the consultants recommended in‑person interviews and a district day for finalists so the board can evaluate candidates’ fit for a large and growing district.
“What we heard was highly visible, forward thinking, someone who enhances a collaborative culture that’s innovative in a diverse community,” the consultants summarized as the leadership profile the community seeks.
