James said two elementary schools in the Carolina Forest area are nearing completion and that the district will hold a topping‑off ceremony in November at the Carolina Forest Boulevard site and the Ronald McNair Boulevard site. He added that seating in the Myrtle Beach High School auditorium is almost complete and that parking work at North Myrtle Beach High has finished.
On facilities planning, James told the board the district will begin design work to replace aged HVAC systems in targeted schools and cited preliminary estimates: “The estimated cost for the Waccamaw Elementary School is 370,000. For the design, the St. James Middle School estimate is 60,000.” He said the plan is to put construction funding for the replacements in the 2025–26 budget after designs are finished.

James noted the district will relocate some modular classrooms as the new schools come online and will consider attendance‑area adjustments in late November or early December.
