Board adopts bridge resolution, hears wetland mitigation cost estimate for county project

County engineer Roland Lensing told the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 18 that bridge crews replaced decayed components on Bridge 0061 and recommended lifting the load posting.
"Our bridge crew did a fantastic job," Lensing said while introducing Bridge Resolution 11-18-24-48 to remove the load posting and return the structure to its legal load rating. He told the board the east cap was decayed and crews replaced both caps to avoid returning in a few years to finish the other side.
Lensing also updated the board on other bridge and road maintenance: ditch cleaning, mudjacking on Usher's Bridge, pavement shaving on Pembroke, and seasonal preparations. For a separate Bridge 2400 mitigation requirement, he reported outreach to mitigation banks produced a low quote from Blackhawk Mitigation of $33,000 per acre for emergent credits and $45,000 per acre for forest wetland credits; the project requires about 0.33 acres of emergent credits and 0.08 acres of forest wetland credits for an estimated mitigation-credit cost of $14,160.
The board took the bridge resolution up as an agenda item and confirmed the resolution number on the record; the engineer described the completed work and the rationale for the resolution. No contested votes or objections to the resolution were recorded in the transcript.
