Board acknowledges corrected public-health starting wage after Board of Health action
Summary
Public health director Lisa Welter asked the board to acknowledge a correction to the department starting wage (from $25.75 to $26.78) to reflect an April 2024 wage-scale change; the board acknowledged the correction and staff said the wage-scale policy and COLA timing will be discussed further.

Public health director Lisa Welter asked the board to formally acknowledge a corrected starting wage for an environmental health position, changing the figure from $25.75 to $26.78 to align with a previously approved April 2024 wage-scale update.
Welter explained that the Board of Health approved the updated wage scale and that the change should have been reflected earlier. "So it should be 26 78 instead of 26," she said while reviewing the department’s wage-scale record. The board acknowledged the correction by voice vote.
Staff described the county’s wage-scale policy and explained that going forward the full wage scale will be reviewed as needed rather than automatically indexed each year; the Board of Health will discuss COLA timing and longevity at a future meeting. The board’s acknowledgment does not itself change compensation policy beyond applying the corrected starting wage to the department’s wage schedule.
