County staff brought a draft update to the Chickasaw County Vehicle Operations Policy that incorporates the Heartland Insurance Motor Vehicle policy.
A county presenter said the draft included language tying county vehicle use to Heartland Insurance requirements and made a cleaned-up first pass at the combined document. "She basically just put it together," the presenter said, noting that some sections were duplicated and at least one numeric reference was incorrect. Board members agreed the document should be cleaned up and recirculated and recommended that drivers sign off on the updated policy during the hiring process.
Board members discussed whether departments such as EMS would follow the updated policy and whether the last page should be revised to the current date. The presenter said the policy should be returned to the board after corrections so new hires and current drivers can sign the updated version.
No motion to adopt the policy was recorded at this meeting; the board asked staff to correct errors and place a revised draft on a future agenda for consideration.
