Chickasaw County supervisors on Oct. 21 approved a series of routine actions: they granted the veterans group permission to hold its annual Veterans Day program at the courthouse, authorized staff to post sealed bids for snow removal at county facilities and approved signature authorization for an economic development assistance contract.
A representative asked the board "to give board permission for the veterans group to have the annual Veterans Day program here at the front of the courthouse," saying insurance had been discussed and that the event would be the usual program on Nov. 11 with no food distribution. The board moved, seconded and approved the request by voice/roll call.
On snow removal, supervisors discussed temporary staffing shortfalls after the retirement of an employee (Tim) and agreed to solicit outside bids to ensure sidewalks and parking lots are cleared. The board set a sealed‑bid timeline: bids due by Nov. 8 and bid openings on Nov. 12, and directed staff to contact past vendors and post the solicitation.
The board also reviewed and corrected contract language in an economic development assistance agreement with Leonard's and Hockett LLC, clarifying the funding source as the "General Basic Economic Development Fund 34" rather than a sales tax. The board moved to authorize a signature on the contract and approved the motion.
The meeting included routine roll calls to record approvals; the meeting adjourned at 09:48.
