Board adopts levy resolution for utility, pipeline and railroad mileage reporting

The South County Board of Directors on Dec. 2 adopted Resolution 12-2-24-49 to certify mileage and levy collection related to electric transmission, telephone and telegraph lines, pipelines and railroads.
A staff presenter cited multiple provisions of Iowa code when introducing the resolution and told the board the packet showed a total of about $61,000,000 in the reported values. “Yeah. That is the total,” the presenter said while explaining the report accompanying the resolution. The board moved, seconded and, by voice/roll-call, approved the resolution.
Board members signed the document as required. The resolution records the county’s official mileage and valuation figures so taxing authorities can apply the certified levies to the listed utility and transportation corridors.
No amendments or conditions to the resolution were recorded during the discussion. The presenter said a printed summary would be included in the legal notice rather than the full multi-page report.
The board’s action directs county staff to file the certified mileage/levy paperwork with the appropriate state offices and to place a summary notice in the newspaper as required by law. The resolution was entered on the board’s consent/regular agenda and carried without recorded opposition.
