Board approves bridge replacement contracts and easements, including Meyer and Brandt parcels

County engineer staff presented a temporary construction easement and permanent right-of-way agreements for Joel and Nancy Meyer for the BRO‑SCO19 bridge replacement. Staff said the permanent right‑of‑way totaled 0.36 acres, using a compensation multiplier of $7.28 on assessed value; the projected market value was $7,632.28 and the Meyer share was $2,747.62. The board authorized signatures to complete the easement and contract.
Separately, staff described the permanent right-of-way needed from Steven Q. Brandt for bridge BROSCO19117. No temporary easement was required; the county needs 0.3 acres at a higher assessed value (projected market value $11,901.20). Staff estimated additional costs for fence relocation and brace posts, bringing the Brandt parcel total to about $3,799.91. The board authorized the contract and signatures to proceed.
Engineer Roman Lensing also presented final plans for the BRO‑SCO19 bridge (90‑foot slab) and requested the board’s signature to forward documents to the DOT; the board approved the plans and signatures by roll call.
These approvals authorize staff to execute right‑of‑way contracts and file project documents with the Iowa DOT; the board did not vote to change project scopes or funding beyond the compensation values presented.
