Matt Weatherall presented the contract, noting the facility is a 20‑bed center and the county’s agreement covers four beds. Weatherall said the total contracted amount for the fiscal year is $446,776, an increase of roughly $11.21 over the prior contract, and referenced an estimated daily bed cost of $306. He said current usage was zero youth in detention at the time of the presentation and that the counties work together to seek cost savings. Weatherall also described budget adjustments and credits from staffing changes and outside contracts that affect the facility’s operating budget.
Commissioners asked about the daily per‑bed cost relative to other counties; Weatherall said the rate is comparable or a bit lower than similar facilities in Marion and Deschutes counties. The board moved to approve the intergovernmental agreement and adopted the motion by voice vote.
