Local club seeks permission, fundraising to add 18 concrete tee pads at Pocomoke disc‑golf course

Representatives of Eastbound Disc Golf told the Pocomoke City mayor and council on Monday they seek approval to install 18 permanent concrete tee pads at the city’s disc‑golf course as part of ongoing course improvements.
"We come here today, seeking approval of installation of 18 tee pads at Workhorse," said Josh Maxfield, introducing himself and Sean Johnson and describing proposed pads as 6‑foot by 10‑foot, 4‑inch concrete slabs. Maxfield said the club has worked on the property for about a year and a half and has cleaned debris and made other improvements.
Organizers said the Lions Club committed $5,000 to the effort and that additional fundraising would follow. Council members pressed organizers to coordinate future tournaments and events with city staff because the course is city property and the city could be liable for injuries or property damage. The mayor and other council members asked organizers to contact Mr. Barclay or city clerk Melinda Stafford before holding events and to pursue integration with school programs and other community outreach.
Councilmembers and staff noted the next formal step is for a final plan to go to the Board of Planning and Zoning; after that, council would be asked to approve construction plans and permit-related items. No construction approval or funding appropriation was taken at the meeting.
