Lake Dallas lays out timeline and renderings for 25,000‑sq‑ft Career & Tech building

Wes Eversole presented a construction update on Feb. 17 showing recent photos, phased schedule and renderings for the high school renovation and a new Career & Technical Education building.
Eversole said the band hall and choir renovation and Phase 2 civil work are complete or underway and that the second phase is still on schedule for completion "sometime in July." He described the new 25,000‑square‑foot CTE building that will adjoin the existing Ag Building and walked trustees through planned instructional spaces: farm tech, pharmacy tech, engineering labs, four BIM/business labs, computer repair, a food lab expanded to six stations (with stoves, ovens, dishwashers and refrigerators), and flexible training rooms with nesting furniture. Eversole said the ag space will include 15 welding bays and specialized mechanical and electrical drops.
The presentation included furniture plans emphasizing mobile, caster‑mounted tables and modular storage so rooms can be reconfigured for different class activities. Eversole said the district has been meeting with teachers to incorporate instructional needs and that furniture orders (including installation and freight) should be placed in the next couple of weeks to meet the installation timeline.
Board members asked about glass safety film and compliance; staff said safety measures are in place and specifics could be discussed in closed session or provided confidentially. Trustees also asked about remaining open space (about 4,000 sq ft) and whether additional trades or certification programs will be added to the CTE mix; staff said discussions with CTE leadership are under way and that trade programs will be balanced with enrollment considerations.
