Lake Dallas ISD police chief outlines staffing, systems and training plans

Chief Chad Springer briefed the board Feb. 17 on the status of the Lake Dallas ISD Police Department.
Springer said the department is finalizing onboarding for a sergeant and plans a ceremonial badge pinning at the next board meeting. "We are working on finalizing the onboarding for the sergeant," he said. The department has been set up with Denton County's report management and computer‑aided dispatch systems "at no cost to the district," and Springer said the department is reporting to the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting system.
He reported that state requirements—fingerprinting, racial profiling reports and updated policies—have been met and that the district has implemented Lexipol policy updates. Duty equipment including cameras and tasers have arrived and training is scheduled for the summer for new hires.
Springer said the district will open recruitment for police officers on March 3 and will advertise widely; the goal is to have conditional job offers by June 1 so uniforms and equipment can be fitted for an August start. Springer said department training will precede the start of school to bring new officers up to date on district‑specific expectations.
