Lake Dallas ISD reviews staff engagement goals under Strategic Plan Priority 2

Deputy Superintendent Kelly O'Sullivan told the Lake Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees on Feb. 17 that Priority 2 of the district strategic plan focuses on faculty and staff engagement, with particular attention to professional development, culture and retention.
"We've made a commitment to set baselines, set measures and targets, and measure those throughout the year," O'Sullivan said, describing a network of district and campus committees that provide staff input to the district improvement plan. She reported that 226 teachers and staff currently participate at the district level and estimated about 305 staff participate across campus committees, drawn from all five campuses and a range of tenure and specialties.
O'Sullivan emphasized that some staff serve on multiple committees but said the totals represent a strong participation rate given about 560 total staff districtwide, roughly 280 of whom are teachers. The presentation said the district will continue to measure recruitment and retention, professional development and engagement to set and track targets over the coming year.
Board members had no immediate questions after the presentation. The item was provided to give trustees a baseline for future discussion of recruitment, retention and professional development initiatives.
The board took no formal action on Priority 2 at this meeting; the presentation was informational.
