The Dare County Board of Education approved two donations and agreed to appraise a district property on Roanoke Island.
Staff reported that OBX TreeDoc offered to trim large trees along the Manteo High School soccer field with an estimated value of about $8,000; because gifts over $5,000 require board approval, the board voted to accept the donation. The board also approved an anonymous $11,500 donation to fund window wraps for First Flight Middle School.
Separately, the board authorized an appraisal of district‑owned property on Roanoke Island after notifying tenants; board members said the notice was intended to keep tenants informed and clarified that appraisal does not mean sale or transfer. Motions to approve both donations and to move forward with an appraisal carried by voice vote.
