Placerville Recreation Commission votes to move regular meetings to third Monday of each month

The Placerville Recreation and Park Commission voted to change its regular monthly meeting day from the third Wednesday to the third Monday of each month.

Staff recommended the move to create a consistent monthly schedule and to allow the commission to host strategic planning sessions in January and February that would better align policy recommendations with City Council consideration. The director noted staff had prepared calendars for 2025 and 2026 and suggested the third-week schedule would support orientation, training and annual planning.

Commissioners discussed potential holiday conflicts in January and February, the timing of workshops for incoming commissioners, and using surveys to collect public priorities before strategic sessions. Resident Ruth Michaelson urged involving incoming commissioners in any strategy work; commissioners agreed staff would offer alternative dates for January and February workshops and would notify the public in advance.

A motion to approve the calendar change carried after a second; staff recorded the motion as "by Commissioner Potter, second by Commissioner Rucavla." The commission directed staff to finalize workshop logistics and public notification if additional meetings are scheduled in January or February.

The motion was advisory to implement the scheduling recommendation and does not change meeting posting or Brown Act obligations. The commission's next scheduled meeting remains on the updated calendar and staff said they will post meeting dates and any workshop notices once details are set.
