The Gardena Planning Commission voted Dec. 3 to approve a conditional use permit (PC17‑24) allowing the remodel of an existing Arco service station at 1001 West Artesia Boulevard, including replacement of the gasoline‑dispenser canopy and addition of three pumps.
Diana Nava, a planning assistant, presented the application and said the project site is zoned C‑3 and the proposal includes no changes to underground tanks or to the attached mini‑market. Staff concluded the project meets setback, parking and trash enclosure requirements and recommended approval. The project was described as categorically exempt from CEQA under the small‑structure/new‑construction exemption that staff cited in the hearing.
Ahmad Gaderi, the project's architect, answered commissioner questions and estimated the construction period would be about three months. There were no public speakers on this item.
On a motion to adopt Resolution PC17‑24, the commission voted on roll call with all four present commissioners recorded as voting yes. The commission also directed staff to file a Notice of Exemption under CEQA.
