Staff reports Harvest Festival, CEQA seminar and Marine Place townhome project under construction

Staff announced the Harvest Festival (Oct. 5), Fur Baby Love Fest (Oct. 6), a UCLA CEQA seminar for commissioners and updated the commission on the Marine Place development by G3 Urban: 22 townhome units with two affordable ownership units; applications will be prioritized for local residents and workers during the initial window.
During the community and development report, staff (acting for Director Greg Zijiji) asked commissioners to note several upcoming events and training opportunities and provided a brief update on local housing construction.
Staff reminded commissioners the Harvest Festival will be at City Hall on Oct. 5 and that the Fur Baby Love Fest — offering low‑cost and free pet wellness services and pet licensing information — will be Oct. 6 at the City Hall lawn. Staff also offered to sign up interested commissioners for a two‑day UCLA extension seminar on CEQA fundamentals scheduled for Oct. 30–Nov. 1.
On development, staff reported construction is underway at the Marine Place project developed by G3 Urban. The project proposes 22 townhome units; staff said two units are designated as affordable ownership units. Staff noted applications are being accepted and that, under the city’s affordable‑housing process, the developer will consider priority during the first 60 days for applicants who live or work in the city.
Commissioners offered brief reports about recent community events and discussed a large multi‑story project near Crenshaw and El Segundo that borders Gardena. The meeting adjourned after those reports.
