The Gardena Planning Commission on a unanimous vote approved a two‑month extension for Tentative Parcel Map No. 82410, a previously approved subdivision that would split a single R2‑zoned parcel at 15906 and 15908 West South Manhattan Place into two equal lots.
Staff told the commission the tentative map was originally approved in 2019 and had undergone technical review; engineering consultants completed their review and the city surveyor was preparing the final map for signatures and county recording. Staff recommended the extension to ensure the map can be scheduled for the city council and recorded before the approval would otherwise expire.
Carl Reamer, the applicant’s representative from DCA Veil Engineering Group, said he had been informed the city engineering staff had signed off and that the map was expected to be scheduled for the city clerk for the Oct. 8 council meeting. “Yesterday morning I was told by city engineering staff that they had signed off on the map, and they would be taking it to the city clerk today to be scheduled before the October 8 meeting,” Reamer said, adding the extension was requested as a safeguard in case the council meeting is canceled and the approval would lapse on Oct. 16.
A motion to grant the two‑month extension carried on roll call. Vice Chair Ronald Reitschher, Chair Daryl Henderson, Commissioner Steve Sherman and Commissioner Khan recorded yea votes; Commissioner C. Langley was absent. The extension will allow staff to place the final map before the city council for final action and county recording.
The commission did not take any other action on the underlying tentative‑map approval tonight; the extension preserves the applicant’s right to have the map brought forward for final processing.
