Junction City public-works staff report progress on sewer and water projects tied to DEQ compliance

Public-works staff gave a consolidated, revised project dashboard to the Junction City council outlining sewer-division and related water projects and how those tasks connect to the DEQ MAO timeline.
Updates included near-complete work on a project labeled Fadedwell with pump power and trench patching done; design work and cultural studies completed on a waterline project; procurement status for several long-lead parts; and industrial-source identification letters beginning to return. Staff said the city had submitted a recycled-water use plan and a soil analysis is outstanding for a lagoon-valve selection step requiring DEQ signoff. Public-works staff and the city engineer said many items are in process and that completing an internal 30-item action list would help the city satisfy MAO requirements.
Councilors asked detailed scheduling questions and whether the revised MAO timeline was achievable; staff said some milestones require outside-party approval and DEQ review times are unpredictable. Staff also said they plan to fund facility planning internally and will continue to explore interim technical fixes that could reduce the time before full plant upgrades are completed. No new project votes were taken during this update; council thanked staff and directed continued work on the MAO compliance plan.
