Commissioner Cuttsinger named county representative to auditor selection committee

County financial-management staff asked the board to select a commissioner to serve on the auditor selection committee required by Florida Statute 218.391. Kim Radke with the Office of Financial Management explained the statute requires membership by elected county officers or designees and at least one county commissioner; county employees may not serve as committee members.
Commissioner Cuttsinger volunteered to serve and the board moved, seconded and approved the appointment unanimously. The board also authorized the county administrator to contact other elected constitutional officers to identify their committee designees, as statutorily required.
Radke emphasized that county staff and executives (chief executive or chief financial officer) may advise the committee but are barred from membership under the statute; the county will follow up to confirm formal designees and next steps for the committee—s convening.
