The Bath County Board of Education voted July 29 to add an additional SLD (Specific Learning Disability) teacher at Owensville Elementary after staff reported the district’s current elementary SLD caseload exceeds the Kentucky Administrative Regulations limit of 15 students per teacher.
District staff told the board they expect to be over the limit by about eight students when classes start; the board approved adding a teacher and asked staff to reevaluate caseloads in September and adjust staffing if needed.
The motion to create the additional position carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
