Bath County board clears consent agenda, reviews multimillion‑dollar wilderness education grant request

The Bath County Board of Education approved a slate of consent items July 29 and reviewed several grant and service agreements the district has applied for or must renew.

Board members voted to approve items A through Q on the consent agenda, including acceptance of bids for a vehicle to be purchased with McKinney‑Vento homeless‑services grant funds and annual renewals of service agreements. Unidentified district staff said the McKinney‑Vento vehicle would transport homeless students to doctor appointments, therapy and school and community engagements.

Staff also described a grant application submitted through the Wilderness Education Project. "This will be a multimillion dollar grant over 3 to 5 years," the staff member said, and asked the board to approve participation if the award is made. The board was told the district has not yet received the grant but that partners have already applied and requested Bath County be part of the project.

Other consent items included approval of the District Code of Acceptable Behavior and Discipline for 2024‑25 (no changes noted), a two‑year, $62,000‑per‑year Math Achievement Coach position to be funded by a grant, and renewals with Gateway Community Services for Head Start special‑education services and with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to support student transitions to employment.

Board members also reviewed the unaudited annual financial report required by the Kentucky Department of Education and a transportation reimbursement rate of $2.73 per mile for fiscal 2025 for entities using district buses.

The consent motions were approved by voice vote during the regular session; no roll‑call tallies were given on the record.
