Sweet Home board approves consent agenda; hires Foster principal, approves ESD service plan

At its regular meeting the Sweet Home School District board approved several administrative actions by voice vote, including the addition of a revised agenda item to hire Lisa Latham as Foster Elementary principal for the remainder of the 2024–25 school year, acceptance of a staff resignation, and ratification of the Linn‑Benton‑Lincoln ESD (LBLESD) 2025–27 local service plan.

The board noted a revised agenda that added item 5(c) to approve the hire of Lisa Latham. A motion to approve the agenda received a second and passed by voice vote. Later in the meeting the consent agenda — which the board described as containing approval of the Dec. 9 meeting minutes, acceptance of the resignation of Richard Smithson (tech ed teacher at the high school, effective June 30, 2025), and the hire of Lisa Latham for the remainder of the 2024–25 school year — was moved, seconded, discussed briefly as having negligible fiscal impact, and approved by voice vote.

The board also considered and approved the LBLESD local service plan, which it described as composed of tier 1 standard services and a tier 2 menu of specialized options (behavior specialists, speech pathologists and similar supports). District staff said the plan enables contracting for specialist services the district has difficulty hiring locally.
