Mountain View honors Rep. Anna Eshoo as she prepares to leave Congress

Congresswoman Anna Eshoo addressed the Mountain View City Council by videoconference Dec. 10, thanking council members for their partnership and pointing to federal grants and local projects she helped secure over a 32‑year career in Congress.

Eshoo told the council she had worked to win large federal investments, citing support for Caltrain electrification, funding for local affordable and emergency housing, and the Bernardo Avenue pedestrian undercrossing. She said her top priority in the remaining days of the congressional session was fully funding the federal government and securing $3,000,000 she requested for the Linda Vista Avenue affordable housing project in Mountain View.

In turn, the council presented a proclamation and offered tributes. Council members said Eshoo had mentored new elected officials and maintained steady advocacy for Mountain View projects. City Manager Kimbra McCarthy thanked Eshoo’s office staff for assistance that staff described as “thoughtful and really good partners,” and recounted recent funding for alternative mental‑health approaches to policing, transitional housing and other local projects.

One public commenter, Alex Brown, thanked Eshoo and invited her to a Mountain View Mobile Home Alliance meeting. Eshoo closed by thanking the community and wishing them well for the holidays.

The council did not take formal action on the remarks; the presentation was a ceremonial recognition and an opportunity for council and staff to thank the congresswoman and highlight local projects tied to federal funding.
