Shane Comark, the fire chief of Fire District 7, asked the Saline County Board of Commissioners to approve the purchase of a 2024 WiseFireStallion 1200 RM demo to replace an older F-550 tanker.
"It'll haul 1,200 gallons of water," Comark said, saying the new truck would restore the district's required water capacity and provide both tanker and off-road grass-rig functionality. He said the truck was already in production and that the district has used mutual-aid agreements for backup while it has consolidated older units.
Commissioners asked whether the vehicle was available immediately and whether the district would have coverage while older units were sold. Comark replied the truck was in production and that mutual-aid agreements provide interim support.
Commissioner (speaker 3) moved to approve RFA 2024-173 as presented; the motion was seconded and passed on a 5-0 voice vote. The approval authorizes the district to proceed with the purchase as described by Chief Comark.
The action follows a consent vote earlier in the meeting and completes the Board's approval for this replacement vehicle. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded at the time of the vote.
